Playing Double Dealing Character a bit but it's killing my fingers, I'm waiting for a new kb with less-stiff keys to arrive. It is "easier" in a sense, not that it's actually easy but the power/life items are much more obvious than previous touhou games. More beginner friendly is how I would describe it. The music is ok but again I haven't had time for it to sink in yet

Its hurting your fingers? That must suck. I honestly haven't played DDC since the trail version, which was much easier. Hard mode feels more like Normal on the other games, but maybe it got harder. Kagerou was very difficult though, although I think ZUN will have nerfed her for the final game.

But yeah, the powerup system is easy to take advantage of, especially if you're willing to use bombs.

That's good. The only way you get better is practice anyway. Playing this one has made me realize how much I rely on memory for Touhou games.

Yeah, I suppose, I've often heard a specific part of the music and then remembered what spell card or non-spell card happens next, but I think it's most useful through the levels rather than the bosses.
