Ika Musume is one of the best if you just want to get into it, its funny and light hearted.

I don't know why Hetalia's fandom is horrid, but whenever I hear the word "fandom", I run a mile. All fandoms are stupid.

I watched a bit of an episode and pretty much nothing seemed to happen (in the episode I mean).

It seems unlike western cartoons, which focus on, well, things happening, anime seems to focus just on cute girls being cute and having ordinary (but cute) conversations.
